On the Sabarmati River, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started building the first rubber-cum-barrage bridge in the state. It is anticipated that the one-kilometer bridge, which would have six lanes, will cost around Rs 300 crore. By giving direct access from Sabarmati to the airport via Sadar Bazaar, the bridge will enhance connection between the city’s eastern and western regions.
According to Devang Dani, chairman of the Standing Committee, authorization has been given to purchase 10,000 square meters of land close to Rathi Apartment from Torrent Power. He said that this area would make it easier to build the bridge’s approach road. Additionally, the route will connect to the Sabarmati Riverfront.

AMC plans to build a barrage bridge across Sabarmati
AMC: The bridge is a part of the Sabarmati Riverfront Project Phase-2, which intends to lessen traffic in the city and enhance infrastructure. The 1047-meter, six-lane barrage bridge will span from Acher on the west bank to Camp Sadar Bazar on the east bank. To connect the main bridge to the riverside road, approach bridges will be built on both sides of the riverbank.
Because they will now have direct access to the airport, inhabitants of North Gujarat, Sabarmati, Chandkheda, and other places will also profit from the bridge. Additionally, the bridge will facilitate traffic flow for commuters heading to Sabarmati, Motera, and Hansol.
Amdavadis won’t have to go via Shahibaug Dafnala to get to the airport after the project is finished. In order to provide seamless connectivity along both sides of the Sabarmati Riverfront, a pedestrian walkway that is 2 to 2.5 meters wide will also be constructed underneath the bridge.
